The one word that makes small business owners uncomfortable — and what to do about it
If you’re a small business owner, particularly one in the creative, arts, or doing-good-in-the-world realms, you might not say the p-word very often.
I mean this one: Profit.
Profit isn’t a dirty word. Profit keeps the lights on and pays the bills. But acknowledging that can seem a little greedy — think Scrooge McDuck diving into piles of cash.
To run successful businesses and keep doing what we love, though, we have to get over that slightly awkward feeling and embrace it.
We deserve to make a profit, and we deserve sustainable businesses. We deserve for our businesses to take care of us in the same way we take care of them.
When was the last time you celebrated making a profit?
Celebrate your finances? If you thought, “how boring,” think again.
Profit is what keeps your business running and lets you pursue your dreams. What’s not to celebrate about that?
Join us for a one-hour party at the end of every quarter to give you and your biz a pat on the back.
Celebrate with other entrepreneurs who get it.
Give credit to who made it happen this quarter — you!
Fortify yourself for next quarter.
If you’re not familiar with business quarters, they’re used to divide the year into four parts. They generally fall at the end of March, June, September, and December. It’s a regular reason to celebrate, plus a good time to revisit your financial systems and make sure they’re healthy.
Money scares many people. But it doesn’t scare me. I don’t want you to have to worry about your “crazy” finances anymore! If you are nervous or confused about money, I will help you become confident, comfortable and knowledgeable around money.
I wasn’t born a bookkeeper. I learned it slowly. In fact, I graduated with a Liberal Arts degree, so it wasn’t until my 20s that I started becoming educated about money. After all, it’s just another language, and with a little guidance, you’ll be fluent, too.
So if you’re overwhelmed or even embarrassed by where you’re at—fear not! I want your business to be successful, and I will do everything in my power to make it so using my experience as a bookkeeper, business coach, and fellow small-business owner.
